Morning Pointe of Athens Assisted Living raised a record $18,800 at its Sixth Annual Mastering Memory Care Golf Tournament to support clinical scholarships through the Morning Pointe Foundation.
The June 26 event at the Springbrook Golf & Country Club in Niota, Tennessee, also saw a record number of sponsors. Teams enjoyed a fun 18 holes of golf followed by an awards luncheon.
The Barry Duggan team [pictured above] came in first place, including members Barry Duggan, Jeff Rice, Evan Ball (not pictured) and Phillip Swanson. The Sweetwater Hospital Association team came in second, with members Cory Sutton, Dr. Chris Shamblin, Chris McConkey and Terri Knight. And third place went to the Hospice of Chattanooga team, which included members Larry Watson, Jesse Roberts, Garrett Dalton and Brian Price.
The tournament will benefit the Morning Pointe Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit. Golf tournament proceeds specifically assist with clinical scholarships. The Foundation partners with a several community colleges and universities locally. These include Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) in Athens and in Jacksboro and Cleveland State Community College. The Foundation has funded more than 111 scholarships since its founding in 2014.

Last year’s tournament raised $17,000.
