The inaugural Pickleball for a Purpose tournament in Calhoun is fast approaching this Saturday, Oct. 26.

Morning Pointe of Calhoun Assisted Living and Memory Care is organizing the sporting event as a fundraiser to support the Morning Pointe Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing senior care through scholarships, caregiver support programs, and educational initiatives throughout the Southeast. The Foundation, founded in 2014 by senior healthcare leaders Greg A. Vital and J. Franklin Farrow, supports a local scholarship at Dalton State College.

Starting at 8 a.m. at the City of Calhoun Recreation Department pickleball courts (601 South River St.), the tournament will feature fierce competition with up to 30 men’s doubles teams and 30 women’s doubles teams vying for medals.

Spots are filling up. Registration is open until the day of the event and is $70 per team ($35 per person) through morningpointe.info/pickleball.
