Why Finishing Still Matters at 95

At Morning Pointe of Chattanooga, one stitch at a time

Chattanooga, Tenn. — January 28, 2026 — At 95 years old, Dolores Bubier, a resident of Morning Pointe of Chattanooga, still threads her needle with purpose.

She learned embroidery decades ago—first in grammar school, then reinforced by a family member who patiently passed the skill along. Back then, Dolores never imagined she would still be stitching at 95, let alone completing new pieces and gifting them to loved ones.

But embroidery has stayed with her, quietly evolving alongside her life.

“I love it,” Dolores says. “It helps pass the time and takes my mind off any troubles.”

For Dolores, the joy isn’t just in the act of stitching—it’s in the moment she finishes a piece. Completion times vary depending on the size of the pattern and the level of difficulty. Some stitches come easily, while others require more concentration and practice. She’s quick to note that not all stitches are the same; some are far more challenging than others, even after all these years.

That challenge is part of the appeal.

Embroidery has become a way for Dolores to stay connected to who she is—a person who values patience, creativity, and seeing things through. Each finished piece represents time spent focused, hands steady, and mind engaged. Often, those finished works become meaningful gifts.

Just recently, Dolores stitched embroidery pieces as Christmas presents for her family, continuing a tradition of giving something handmade, thoughtful, and deeply personal.

At an age when many people are encouraged to slow down, Dolores continues to create—one stitch at a time—proving that lifelong hobbies don’t just fill the hours. They hold memories, identity, and meaning.

And for Dolores, the best part still comes at the end, when the final stitch is placed and the piece is complete.
