Morning Pointe of Athens, Morning Pointe Foundation 5th Annual Mastering Memory Golf Tournament set for June 28

Athens Golf Tournament winners 2022

Morning Pointe of Athens will host its fifth annual Mastering Memory Care Golf Tournament on June 28 at the Springbrook Golf & Country Club in Niota, Tennessee.

The tournament will benefit the Morning Pointe Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit that provides caregiver support programs, sponsors educational awareness events and funds clinical scholarships to advance the care of seniors.

Registration and breakfast begins at 7:30 a.m., followed by a 9 a.m. tee-off. The tournament will conclude with a 1 p.m. luncheon and awards reception.

Since its founding in 2014, the Morning Pointe Foundation has funded over 75 nursing and clinical scholarships at a dozen partnering community colleges and universities. These include Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) in Athens and in Jacksboro, Chattanooga State Community College, Columbia State Community College, and Tusculum University in Greeneville, Tennessee.

“These ongoing scholarships are made possible thanks to the commitment of local sponsors and their dedication to ensuring more nursing and clinical students gain the resources they need to further their professional careers,” said Greg A. Vital, president and co-founder of Morning Pointe Senior Living. Vital also helped start the Foundation.

The Foundation continues to accept donations and welcomes sponsorships for this event.

For more information about sponsoring the tournament or to register as a golfer, call Crystal Sutton, executive director at Morning Pointe of Athens. You can reach her at 423-836-3317, or email Athens-ed@morningpointe.com.

“We are so excited to once again host this annual event,” said Sutton. “The Foundation is an important part of Morning Pointe Senior Living. Its work is making a huge impact on students’ lives.”

With the growing need for nurses and increased cost of education, the Foundation’s work is more important than ever.

“It takes events like the Morning Pointe of Athens Mastering Memory Golf Tournament to ensure that we can fund and support even more scholarships going forward,” said Miranda Perez, executive director of the Morning Pointe Foundation. “Join us and help make a difference.”

Founded in 1997 by Tennessee healthcare entrepreneurs Greg A. Vital and Franklin Farrow, Morning Pointe Senior Living owns and operates 37 assisted living, personal care, and Alzheimer’s memory care communities in five southeastern states, including several in the Chattanooga area.
