“In the Mood,” “Rhinestone Cowboy” among selections at Morning Pointe Foundation’s Seniors Got Talent show Oct. 17

From a piano rendition of Glenn Miller’s hit “In the Mood,” to a singer performing Glenn Campbell’s “Rhinestone Cowboy,” the Morning Pointe Foundation’s Seniors Got Talent show in Franklin on Oct. 17 offers a wide variety of performances.

The show, produced in conjunction with Morning Pointe Senior Living, starts at 7 p.m. at The Franklin Theatre at 419 Main St.

Tickets for Seniors Got Talent – Franklin are $10 while they last plus a small theatre fee at The Franklin Theatre website and at MorningPointeFoundation.com. Tickets are going fast, and the show sold out last year, so interested parties are encouraged to get their tickets now.

The show will open with last year’s winners, dancing duo Lane Wilkinson and Nancy Stuenkel, reprising their winning routine to “Signed, Sealed, Delivered.”

Performers are ages of 62-90 and will include:

  • Dak Alley, singer, performing his original song, “You Must Love Me a Lot”
  • Jesse Lancaster, guitarist and singer, performing “It Doesn’t Have to Be That Way” by Jim Croce
  • Judy Street, singer, performing her original song “What”
  • Edie Farm, pianist, playing “In the Mood”
  • Belinda French, flag baton twirler, twirling to “Morning Has Broken”
  • Brett McCreary, singer, performing “Me and Mrs. Jones”
  • Barry Cardinael, singer and pianist, performing a medley of “Daydream” by Lovin’ Spoonful and “Hello Again” by Neil Diamond
  • Ron Bailey, singer and guitarist, performing “Rhinestone Cowboy”
  • Jack Wise, pianist, playing his original song “Live Life More”
  • Nick Chambers, singer, performing “Mack the Knife”
  • Mike Kanski, guitarist and singer, performing his original song “Wilderness”
  • Brenda Gibson, singer, performing Dolly Parton’s “It Wasn’t God Who Made Honky-Tonk Angels”

Prizes will be awarded to the first, second, and third-place winners. The overall winner will receive $500. In addition, show attendees will be able to vote for their favorite act at $1 per vote for the People’s Choice Award.

The Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Morning Pointe Senior Living. The 501(c)3 nonprofit public service organization was created in 2014 to provide caregiver support programs, sponsor educational awareness events, and fund clinical scholarships to advance the care of seniors throughout the Southeast. Funds from the Seniors Got Talent shows go toward scholarships.

Founded in 1997 by senior healthcare entrepreneurs Greg A. Vital and J. Franklin Farrow, Morning Pointe Senior Living owns and operates 37 assisted living, personal care, and Alzheimer’s memory care communities in five southeastern states. These include nine campuses in Middle Tennessee.

Tour T-shirts will also be available at the show for $20 as a Foundation fundraiser.

Lisa Spencer, chief meteorologist at News4 WSMV, is returning for the fourth time as master of ceremonies. Judges will include Rich Eckhardt, one of the most well-known guitarists in Nashville; Alex Tinker IV, Open Mic Night emcee at Leiper’s Fork’s on “Fox and Locke”; Jim Hagaman, mayor of Spring Hill who has been involved in musical performance and theater; and Mackenzie Wasner, up-and-coming country music artist.
