Keeping Things Running: Celebrating the Fix-It Heroes of Morning Pointe on Maintenance Director Day

At Morning Pointe Senior Living, providing a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for our residents is essential to what we do. Behind the scenes, checking that every light shines, every door opens smoothly, and every space feels like home, are our dedicated maintenance directors. For Maintenance Director Day, celebrated this year on March 4, we take a moment to recognize these hardworking individuals who keep our communities humming.

From routine repairs to emergency fixes, our maintenance directors are more than just problem solvers — they are trusted team members who bring peace of mind to residents, associates, and families alike. Whether it’s adjusting a thermostat for a resident’s comfort, fixing a broken cabinet, sprinkling ice melt on the sidewalk outside the building, or lending a simply helping hand with a smile, their impact is felt every day in countless ways.

A Friendly Conversation

To celebrate Maintenance Director Day, we sat down with Charles Stephens, one of our stellar maintenance directors, and Robbie Robertson, an 89-year-old assisted living resident. The two men shared about the surprising friendship they have developed.

Charles considers Robbie to be a friend, almost like a father to him. He enjoys finding him at breakfast time and telling him knock-knock and dad jokes. Of course, he appreciates Charles’ maintenance help with requests like changing lightbulbs or adjusting Robbie’s TV.

“One thing I get out of working at Morning Pointe is watching the reaction on y’all’s faces when something goes from broken to fixed,” Charles said.

Robbie shared, “You’re on the ball. If I’ve got anything that needs to be fixed, I can always count on you. I can cut up and have fun with you, and I feel relaxed when I talk to you. I trust you, and you have been good to me.”

Building Relationships

We know that Charles and Robbie’s story is not unique. Maintenance directors across our footprint find fulfillment in not only maintaining property but in serving people and building relationships. Please join us in celebrating the maintenance directors at each of Morning Pointe’s assisted living and memory care locations. They are true behind-the-scenes heroes who help make every day brighter for those we serve!
