Chattanooga, TN — April 23, 2026 — In honor of National Volunteer Week 2026, Morning Pointe Senior Living is recognizing the individuals who give their time, energy, and heart to brighten the lives of residents. At Morning Pointe of Greenbrier Cove Assisted Living, one of those shining examples is Genna Carson.
Since March 2025, Carson has been a consistent and joyful presence in the community, bringing more than just activities to residents. She brings connection, laughter, and something to look forward to each week.
Her passion for volunteering is rooted in personal experience. Having spent years visiting her grandparents and great-grandmother in nursing homes, she saw firsthand how meaningful even a simple visit could be. That perspective now shapes the way she shows up for residents at Morning Pointe.
Each Wednesday, Carson leads Bingo, but it is far from ordinary. She brings candy bars and healthy snacks to share, keeping things fun and balanced. Over time, a playful tradition has developed. Each week, the group jokes that the Bingo winner must do a dance on the table. While it remains a running joke, the laughter it sparks has become part of the experience residents look forward to.
Carson’s relationships with residents have grown naturally and warmly. When one resident noticed her recent engagement, it quickly turned into a full community celebration, complete with cheers and excitement. It was a moment that meant just as much to Carson as it did to those around her.
Described as infectious, bubbly, and sweet, Carson has a way of making each visit feel personal. What started as volunteering every other week quickly turned into a weekly commitment after residents asked to see her more often.
“I love coming to spend time with the residents and putting smiles on their faces,” Carson shared. “We laugh, we joke, and we check in with each other. It means a lot to me.”
Her visits often begin with a playful question, asking residents how much trouble they have caused that week, which sets the tone for laughter and lighthearted connection. Around the holidays, she goes a step further, bringing thoughtful gifts and small surprises to make the season feel extra special.
“Volunteers like Genna are such an important part of what makes this community feel like home,” said Sarabeth Wilkins. “She brings so much joy, energy, and genuine care to our residents each week. You can see the difference it makes, not just in the smiles and laughter, but in the relationships she has built. We are incredibly grateful for her heart and the time she chooses to spend with us.”
As Morning Pointe Senior Living celebrates National Volunteer Week, stories like Carson’s serve as a reminder that meaningful impact does not require grand gestures. Sometimes, it is simply about showing up, being present, and creating moments that matter.
