Activities Enriching Memory Care: A Morning Pointe Couch Conversation

Lantern Program Directors slide

Have you ever thought about how purposeful activities can add meaning to your day? How much more is this the case for individuals with Alzheimer’s and dementia, who are often seeking meaning and direction.

Morning Pointe Senior Living offers several stand-alone The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Centers of Excellence, as well as Lantern memory care wings in several of its senior living communities. In each memory care environment, trained Lantern program directors plan and oversee activities specifically for residents struggling with memory loss.

To see just how impactful these activities can be, we bring you the latest in our Couch Conversation series. Kindra Warren, a resident’s daughter, shares with Dawn Pittman, a Lantern program director at The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence, how much activities have meant to her mother’s experience, as well as her own.

It all started with a cookie…

“I go to sleep at night comfortable that my mom’s taken care of, and I wake up in the morning knowing that she’s going to have a good day,” Kindra shared. “She’s going to be fed, and she’s going to be loved on.”

“We are creating meaningful and engaging days for her,” Dawn said. “We’re here to connect with the residents and build those relationships and have fun with them.”

Morning Pointe Senior Living’s memory care communities are more than just safe and secure locations for dementia and Alzheimer’s care. They are places designed to help these residents and their families live as fulfilled a life along their memory care journey as possible.
