Community to Welcome New Residents in First Weeks of July

Construction is now complete at Morning Pointe Senior Living’s new Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence memory care community on the campus in Powell, Tennessee. The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence, Powell is the second phase of the state-of-the-art Morning Pointe of Powell senior living campus, which—in total—will provide specialized assisted living and secure memory care for over 120 seniors when it welcomes new residents in early July.

The 33,000-square-foot Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence community, located at 7710 Dannaher Drive on the Tennova Healthcare campus, will consist of 44 suites created specifically to meet the needs of residents with Alzheimer’s and other memory disorders. The Lantern maintains a strong focus on clinical care with innovative therapies such as Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach® to Care and Morning Pointe’s Meaningful Day™ purposeful, structured programming to ensure the highest quality experience and care for residents. Additionally, the Lanterns at Morning Pointe offers monthly caregiver support groups and ongoing learning and training for all associates under the direction of the Morning Pointe Memory Care Director, Beth Janey.

Beautiful, secure courtyards showcase walking paths, sitting areas, and gathering spots for residents to enjoy the outdoors. Physical and occupational therapies, medication management, life enrichment, wellness programming, and intergenerational activities round out the wide array of healthcare services offered—and all residents enjoy local, delicious Farm-to-Table fresh food and ingredients tailored specifically for residents living with Alzheimer’s. The memory care community also offers a Dining with Dignity program with specialty finger foods and brightly-colored dinnerware to help meet the changing needs of residents. The dementia care community additionally provides a wide array of programming including pet therapy, music therapy, art and cognitive activities to help residents enjoy engaging days and be at their best.

“In our 25th anniversary year, Morning Pointe has significantly expanded the options for quality senior living available to East Tennessee seniors and their families. The addition of The Lantern Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence in Powell will allow us to further connect the Knoxville area’s rapidly growing senior population with the specialized care they need while contributing to the growth of the local healthcare workforce,” said Greg A. Vital, president and co-founder of Morning Pointe Senior Living.

Morning Pointe is East Tennessee’s choice for assisted living and memory care, serving seniors since 1997. In addition to Powell, Morning Pointe operates assisted living and memory care communities in

Knoxville, Clinton, and Lenoir City. A new campus in Hardin Valley opened in February. In total, Morning Pointe Senior Living owns and operates 36 senior communities in five southeastern states.

“We are pleased The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence of Powell will be available to the Alzheimer’s community,” says Janice Wade-Whitehead, CEO and President of Alzheimer’s Tennessee. “Many individuals with a diagnosis of dementia will need a secure environment with supportive and personalized care such as will be provided at The Lantern. I appreciate the expertise and investment that Morning Pointe has made to provide this quality of care for those on their journey with Alzheimer’s.”
