On-Site Therapy Helps Residents with Strength and Function

Physical, occupational, and speech therapies can often help older adults regain or maintain strength, balance, and self-care skills. Morning Pointe Senior Living is proud to offer these services on-site through our therapy partners.

Each Morning Pointe community features a therapy gym where PTs, OTs and SLPs can work with residents toward their health and function goals. Many residents love the convenience of having therapy available right in their home community so they don’t have to drive out for sessions.

Physical therapy can be needed for a variety of reasons, including recovery from injuries, surgery, managing chronic illnesses, reducing pain, and improving mobility and overall physical function. The goals of physical therapy are to restore, maintain, and promote overall fitness and health.

Occupational therapy addresses skills residents need for taking care of activities of daily living (also called ADLs) such as grooming, dressing, bathing, cooking, and light home maintenance. They can visit resident apartments to assess for safety and make recommendations.

Speech therapy, also known as speech-language pathology, addresses problems with speech, language, communication, and swallowing. For seniors, this may include post-stroke muscular issues or complications with vocal volume or speech due to Parkinson’s disease.

“The ability to access PT and OT, to stay fit, without having to leave our community at Morning Pointe, is a definite blessing and joy,” said Dr. Michael Sobel, a Morning Pointe resident. “PT and OT have benefited me as a resident in assisted living by enabling me to actively participate in more activities and thus maintain a healthier lifestyle and engage more with our community.”
