100 Years Young: First-Ever Manicure Creates Special Memory at Morning Pointe of Athens Assisted Living

ATHENS, Tenn.—May 27, 2026— At 100 years old, Marjorie has lived through a century of memories, milestones, and life experiences. But recently, at Morning Pointe of Athens, she experienced something for the very first time — having her nails painted.

What may seem like a small moment to some became a memory filled with joy, excitement, and celebration.

As Marjorie carefully picked out her nail color — pink, her favorite- her smile quickly revealed just how meaningful the experience was. She admired her freshly painted nails with excitement, soaking in a moment she had never experienced before.

“I like pink,” Marjorie shared simply. “It is my color.”

Born and raised in Steele, North Dakota, Marjorie grew up as the only girl in her family. She remembers growing up without much and recalls that simple luxuries, like nail polish, were never part of everyday life.

Her childhood memories include winters where snow drifted against the barn high enough for children to slide on and lessons learned from humble beginnings. Throughout her life, Marjorie built a legacy centered on caring for others, sharing that becoming a nurse was one of her greatest accomplishments.

“Being a nurse, I accomplished a good part of my life,” she said.

Now, at 100 years old, Marjorie says some of life’s greatest joys are simple ones.

“Enjoy every moment of every day,” she shared.

Her first manicure became more than painted nails; it became a reminder that meaningful moments do not have to be grand to leave a lasting impact.

Residents and team members at Morning Pointe of Athens celebrated alongside Marjorie as she admired her nails and enjoyed a moment filled with happiness, connection, and care.

“Moments like these remind us why we do what we do,” said Crystal Sutton, Executive Director at Morning Pointe of Athens. “Creating joy, celebrating individuality, and helping residents experience meaningful moments, whether for the first time or the hundredth. That is at the heart of who we are.”

At Morning Pointe, creating opportunities for residents to continue making memories remains an important part of everyday life — because sometimes the smallest moments can mean the most.
