It’s going to be a star-studded show at the historic Lexington Opera House on Sept. 10, and the stars are local talented seniors ages 60 and up!
Auditions are going on now through Aug. 2 for the Morning Pointe Foundation’s 5th Annual Seniors Got Talent variety show in Lexington. All talented seniors age 60 and older in the greater Lexington area are encouraged to try out. Acts have included singers, musicians, dancers, poets, comedians and more. Groups are limited to a maximum of six performers.
Ten seniors or groups will be selected to perform at the big show on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m. They will vie for the grand prize of $1,000; second-place prize of $500; and third-place prize of $250. Contestants will be judged on technical ability, stage presence and professionalism, appearance/costume, difficulty of act and originality/creativity.
Attendees at the show will also determine a People’s Choice winner based on audience votes.
All proceeds from the show will go to the Morning Pointe Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit public service organization. Seniors Got Talent is produced by the Morning Pointe Foundation in conjunction with Morning Pointe Senior Living, but contestants do not have to be affiliated with Morning Pointe. Proceeds from show sponsorships and ticket sales support the Foundation’s funds for college scholarships.

“Our Morning Pointe Seniors Got Talent in Lexington is shaping up to be a great show,” said Miranda Perez, Morning Pointe Foundation executive director. “This is a great opportunity for talented seniors in our area to show that age can’t stop a star from shining!”
Tickets will be $10 plus Ticketmaster and other fees and will go on sale in August.
Doug and Lyssa High, co-anchors at ABC 36 News in Lexington, are debuting as masters of ceremonies for Seniors Got Talent.

The Morning Pointe Foundation hosts four Seniors Got Talent shows each year. Besides Lexington, shows are held in Chattanooga, Franklin and Knoxville, Tennessee.
The Morning Pointe Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Morning Pointe Senior Living founded by senior healthcare entrepreneurs Greg A. Vital and J. Franklin Farrow. The 501(c)3 nonprofit was created in 2014 to provide caregiver support programs, sponsor educational awareness events and fund scholarships that advance the care of seniors throughout the Southeast.
