Kim Champagne was recently named executive director at The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence, Frankfort.

In this role, Champagne oversees day-to-day operations at the memory care community, located at 66 C. Michael Davenport Blvd. She collaborates with a dedicated team of directors, nurses, nursing assistants and other support staff that focuses on fostering meaningful relationships and experiences for residents, as well as promoting their health, independence and well-being. As the leader at the community, she assists with training, mentoring and developing Morning Pointe associates.

Champagne has a bachelor’s degree in human services. She is a Certified Dementia Practitioner and a Nationally Certified Executive Director through Argentum (a professional organization for senior living providers). She has been an executive director, business office director and regional director of dining. She is also certified in the Eden Alternative person-directed care program.

Before joining the senior living field, Champagne worked in skilled nursing and in financial services.

“I am passionate about my work – my job is to love people every day,” said Champagne. “There is no greater calling for me than creating a home for your grandparents, aunts, uncles, moms or dads with a loving environment that provides a holistic approach to care. I understand how difficult it is to move someone out of their home; it comes with a lot of guilt and fear. I want to make sure we are loving each resident and their family and providing for their physical, medical, emotional and spiritual needs so they can enjoy their twilight years with joy.”

Originally from Queens, New York, Champagne has lived in several states, including California, Colorado and Florida, before moving to Kentucky. She currently lives in Russell Springs, Kentucky, with her husband, Tony. She has four children, three grandchildren and six dogs.

“We are so pleased to have Kim as part of our Kentucky Morning Pointe team,” said Kendell Stratton, vice president of operations for Morning Pointe Senior Living’s Bluegrass Region. “She is very personable and brings a valuable set of experiences and training with her for serving our residents with Alzheimer’s and other dementias.”
