On Jan. 24, the Morning Pointe Foundation will stream a free webinar on the differences between dementia and normal aging.
The Caregiver Café seminar will start at 6:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
Guest speaker Cheryl Blanchard, LMSW, CCM, is a certified dementia care specialist and Middle Tennessee regional director with Alzheimer’s Tennessee. She will share on “Is Dad Just Confused, or is this Dementia?”
Blanchard will explain the differences between the normal cognitive decline of aging and dementia, such as Alzheimer’s disease. She will also address steps to take if you are concerned a loved one has dementia.
“We’re also going to give tips for how to manage some of the behaviors that come with Alzheimer’s,” Blanchard said. “Many of our responses are what we’ve always done, but some of the responses to the behaviors of Alzheimer’s are actually counterintuitive. Sometimes it’s actually the opposite of what you might think to do.”
