Local senior adults are getting excited for the Second Annual Senior Prom at The Commons in Collegedale, presented by Morning Pointe Senior Living and Garden Plaza of Greenbriar Cove, on Thursday, June 13.

The free event will run from 4 – 6 p.m. and is open to all senior adults (no age minimum). Tickets are not required.

The senior prom will include live music by the Barkey Bryant Band, hors d’oeuvres from chefs at local Morning Pointe Senior Living and Garden Plaza communities, dancing and the crowning of a prom king and queen.

Adult children and family members are also invited to attend with their senior parents or grandparents. In fact, one resident at The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence, Collegedale, is especially looking forward to the event. Mike Thomas will get the chance to dance with his granddaughter, who is coming into town just for the prom. Thomas was not able to come to her wedding and dance with her there. The prom offers the chance to share a special moment.

The Commons is located at 4750 Swinyar Dr. in Collegedale. The Senior Prom is also sponsored by AccentCare Home Health.
