Morning Pointe of Danville Assisted Living is on track to open this fall and is taking reservations and hiring key staff members.
The new community, located at 100 Birney Place, is Part II of the Morning Pointe of Danville Senior Living campus, which is expanding its senior living and Alzheimer’s care services. It is next door to the current Morning Pointe of Danville Senior Living at 1375 Perryville Road.
Morning Pointe of Danville Assisted Living will offer 58 spacious assisted living apartments, 14 suites with kitchenettes and stackable washer/dryer combos, and multiple floor plan choices. Several apartments have already been reserved, and the community is continuing to take reservations.
Key Leaders
A few key staff members have been hired, including Lisa Keller, RN, senior executive director, who will oversee operations. Keller opened the original Morning Pointe of Danville in 2016 and served as the executive director there for five and a half years. She has most recently been serving as executive director at Morning Pointe of Frankfort, Kentucky. She has 15 years of experience in senior care. Other than her time in Frankfort, her career has been in Danville.

Also on the team is Julie Popplewell as community relations director, handling inquiries for the community. She worked with Keller as CRD at the opening of the original Morning Pointe of Danville and has been in senior living since 2009. She is a graduate of Lexington Community College (now Bluegrass Community College) with associates degrees in business development and marketing, as well as in medical assisting.

Morning Pointe Senior Living is currently looking to fill out the new community’s management team. As the building gets closer to completion, it will be hiring for clinical, housekeeping, dietary and other support roles.

Plans for the Campus
Upon completion of Phase II of the campus, the original Morning Pointe of Danville will expand its memory care services to add care for earlier stages of Alzheimer’s and dementia. The single-level community will encompass two levels of care under one roof – Lamplight for early stages of Alzheimer’s and other dementias, and Lantern for the more advanced stages. Care staff will be specially trained on the different stages of Alzheimer’s and dementia and how to care for each resident’s needs with compassion and comfort. Memory care programming will continue to include the Best Friends™ Approach, Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach™ to Care, Meaningful Day™ purposeful programming, music therapy, art therapy and cuddle therapy.
Programming at both campus buildings will maintain Morning Pointe’s strong focus on clinical care with on-site physical, occupational and speech therapies; a robust life enrichment program; wellness offerings; intergenerational activities; as well as its Farm to Table program with local, farm-fresh and seasonal ingredients.
The Morning Pointe of Danville campus is located conveniently near Millennium Park, Centre College, the Boyle County School Campus, downtown Danville and Ephraim McDowell Trauma Hospital.
Morning Pointe of Danville Phase II will be the 39th Morning Pointe community and the 12th in Kentucky. Other Kentucky campuses are located in Lexington, Louisville, Frankfort, Richmond and Russell. Founded in 1997 by healthcare entrepreneurs Greg A. Vital and Franklin Farrow, Morning Pointe Senior Living operates assisted living and Alzheimer’s memory care communities in five southeastern states.
The expanded Morning Pointe of Danville campus will create approximately 65 permanent healthcare positions with a positive economic impact of more than $35 million annually, considering payroll, property taxes and local purchase of goods and services.
