Excitement is building for Morning Pointe of Calhoun Assisted Living and Memory Care’s first-ever pickleball tournament on Saturday, Oct. 26.

With registrations already picking up momentum, Pickleball for a Purpose is shaping up to be a hit as players and the local community come together to support the Morning Pointe Foundation.

Starting at 8 a.m. at the City of Calhoun Recreation Department pickleball courts, located at 601 South River St., the tournament will feature 30 men’s doubles teams and 30 women’s doubles teams competing for medals. Registration is open for $70 per team ($35 per person) at morningpointe.info/pickleball. Teams are encouraged to sign up quickly, as spots are filling fast!

Proceeds from the tournament will go to the Morning Pointe Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to advancing senior care through scholarships, caregiver support programs, and educational initiatives across the Southeast. Founded in 2014 by senior healthcare leaders Greg A. Vital and J. Franklin Farrow, the Foundation helps fund a local scholarship at Dalton State College, supporting future caregivers in Calhoun and beyond.

“It is so wonderful to see such enthusiasm around this inaugural event,” said Traci Clements, executive director at Morning Pointe of Calhoun. “Pickleball has taken the world by storm, from children to seniors, and it’s a great way to bring people together for a worthy cause while having fun. We are grateful to everyone stepping up to play and support the Morning Pointe Foundation.”

Players will be treated to T-shirts, swag bags, and a hydration station to keep them refreshed throughout the day. For those looking to refuel, a food truck will be on-site, and local business Homespun Hospice is the title sponsor.

Located at 660 Jolly Road NW, Morning Pointe of Calhoun provides assisted living and memory care with 24/7 access to clinical care; meals with dietician oversight and an emphasis on fresh, local produce; a full life enrichment activity program; engaging community partnerships; and on-site physical, occupational and speech therapy services.
