Students and Seniors Form Lasting Partnership at Morning Pointe of Greenbriar Cove

OOLTEWAH, Tenn. —May 26, 2026—What began as a simple school visit quickly turned into something much more meaningful at Morning Pointe of Greenbriar Cove Assisted Living.

Residents recently welcomed special guests from Ooltewah High School, including the Ooltewah Red Hots dance team and members of the school’s basketball team, for an afternoon centered around connection, conversation, and community. By the end of the visit, residents had decided to “adopt” the students, creating the foundation for an ongoing relationship designed to continue far beyond a one-day event.

The gathering reflected Morning Pointe’s continued focus on intergenerational programming that brings seniors and younger generations together through shared experiences, storytelling, and friendship. Throughout the afternoon, students and residents spent time visiting, participating in activities, and learning from one another, creating connections that left a lasting impression on both groups.

“Our residents enjoyed the experience so much that they wanted to continue seeing the students and building those relationships moving forward,” said Lisa Johnson, Life Enrichment Director at Morning Pointe of Greenbriar Cove. “It became more than just a visit. It turned into the beginning of real friendships.”

Volunteerism and community involvement remain an important part of life at Morning Pointe Assisted Living and Memory Care communities, helping seniors stay socially engaged while strengthening local connections across generations.

“People are busy, and volunteering can sometimes feel difficult to fit into everyday life,” said Amanda Yelenick, Vice President of Life Enrichment for Morning Pointe Senior Living. “But moments like these remind us how powerful human connection really is. When students walk through those doors and spend time with our residents, something changes for everyone involved. New friendships form, stories are shared, and both generations walk away encouraged.”

Morning Pointe of Greenbriar Cove is already planning its next gathering on August 3 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., when the students will return to the community for a special Family Night celebration designed to continue growing the partnership between residents, families, and students.
