With the aging population growing at an unprecedented rate, families across Tennessee are facing tough decisions about how to care for their loved ones. The choices can be overwhelming. That’s why the Morning Pointe Foundation is bringing its Chattanooga Caregiver Café panel discussion on April 22 to Morning Pointe of East Hamilton at 9700 Block E. Brainerd Road.

The Chattanooga Caregiver Cafe

The free event, which runs from 6-7:30 p.m., will allow participants to ask questions from a panel of three experts in areas of financial planning, Medicaid and Medicare and veterans benefits. This is the second year the Caregiver Café has met in person with a panel discussion.

“As more families find themselves navigating the complexities of senior care, these discussions are more important than ever,” said Miranda Perez, executive director of the Morning Pointe Foundation. “The goal of the Caregiver Café is to provide the knowledge and tools people need before a crisis occurs, so they can make informed, confident decisions about their loved one’s future.”

This year’s panelists include:

  • Nancy A. Cogar, Esq., attorney/partner with Samples Jennings Clem and Fields, PLLC
  • Misty Bolt, CEO of Medicare Misty
  • Mary Ross-Tarkington, M.ED., NCC, national director of client relations with Elder Veterans Legal Aid Group

With long-term care costs rising and healthcare options becoming increasingly complex, experts urge families to plan ahead rather than waiting until they are in an urgent situation. The Caregiver Café event aims to bridge that gap, offering guidance in a supportive and informative setting.

The Chattanooga Caregiver Cafe is open to the public, and no tickets or reservations are required. Light refreshments will be provided. For more information, visit morningpointe.com/caregiver-cafe/.

Morning Pointe of East Hamilton Assisted Living and Memory is a campus about to expand, with The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence, East Hamilton set to open soon. Staff will be specially trained in memory care approaches and programs. When The Lantern opens, the original building will transition to an assisted living-only community.

Both East Hamilton communities are taking reservations.

Founded in 1997 by Vital and Farrow, Morning Pointe Senior Living operates 41 assisted living and Alzheimer’s memory care communities in five southeastern states, including six in Hamilton County, Tennessee.
