Wood named new executive director of The Lantern at Morning Pointe of Louisville

The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence, Louisville, has named Kelly Wood as its new executive director.

In this role, Wood oversees daily operations at the Alzheimer’s and memory care community located at 4701 South Hurstbourne Parkway.

Wood comes to The Lantern from Vitality Living in Louisville, formerly Atria Senior Living, where she served for seven years. She started at the community as an activity assistant, then became the memory care director, the business office director and finally the executive director.

“I am enjoying it at The Lantern – it’s very family-oriented,” said Wood. “I have a heart for residents with memory care needs. My grandmother had Alzheimer’s, and I had the privilege of being her caregiver.”

“Kelly is a wonderful lady,” said Dana Boblitt, regional vice president of operations for the Bluegrass Region at Morning Pointe. “She is kind, thoughtful and has a gentle, easy spirit. She fully embodies the meaning of having a servant’s heart. She is extremely organized and has an immense ability to prioritize.”

Wood earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Spalding University. She currently resides in her hometown of Louisville with her husband, Jim, and their three teenagers. She enjoys reading and spending time at the lake.
