Morning Pointe Senior Living announced plans for a groundbreaking early in 2024 for Phase II of the company’s Morning Pointe of East Hamilton 22-acre campus off of East Brainerd Road.

The new The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence at East Hamilton will be a 45,000-square foot, 60-apartment memory care community next door to the existing 73-apartment Morning Pointe of East Hamilton, which will transition to an assisted living-only community.

Morning Pointe Senior Living hopes to open The Lantern at Morning Pointe of East Hamilton in early 2025. It will be company’s 41st building.

The new community will offer two distinct areas for Alzheimer’s care all under one roof. The Lamplight Program is for residents in the early to moderate stages of Alzheimer’s disease. It offers a large expansive environment that is secure and safe. The Lantern Program is for more advanced stages of Alzheimer’s that focus on individual interests, life experiences and personal strengths to ensure each resident benefits from personalized and purposeful support.

The Lantern building will provide an array of Alzheimer’s and dementia care services, including innovative therapies such as Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach® to Care, Best Friends™ Approach and Morning Pointe’s own Meaningful Day™ – a purposeful memory care program providing structure to help residents feel safe and secure.

Programming will adhere to Morning Pointe’s strong focus on clinical care with physical and occupational therapies, life enrichment and wellness offerings and intergenerational activities. It will also feature Morning Pointe’s Farm to Table program with local, farm-fresh and seasonal ingredients.

“We are continuing to grow as a company, and we are so excited to be adding a new memory care campus right here in Hamilton County where our company is based,” said Greg A. Vital, president of Morning Pointe Senior Living. “As our population ages and as the East Hamilton County area grows, the need for care for our seniors in the region continues to grow with it – whether it be a need for assisted living or for memory care. The families of those with Alzheimer’s and other memory challenges especially need support and reassurance that their loved ones are safe and cared for by compassionate professionals. We are pleased to be able to provide that support to more seniors and their families right here in our hometown.”

The new Lantern at Morning Pointe of East Hamilton will be the 25th Morning Pointe community in Tennessee. Other Chattanooga-area campuses are located in Chattanooga, Hixson, and Collegedale. The campus is conveniently located close to Hamilton Place and the Erlanger East Hospital campus.

One final phase of the campus is planned, which will include Morning Pointe’s first independent living apartments. Phase III is scheduled to be under development soon after the completion of the new Alzheimer’s project.

Founded in 1997 by healthcare entrepreneurs Greg A. Vital and J. Franklin Farrow, Morning Pointe Senior Living operates 38 assisted living and Alzheimer’s memory care communities in five southeastern states.

The philanthropic arm of Morning Pointe Senior Living is the Morning Pointe Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that works to provide nursing scholarships and caregiver support.
