As the need for Alzheimer’s and dementia care in Hamilton County continues to grow, Morning Pointe Senior Living is expanding its services with The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence, East Hamilton.

This state-of-the-art memory care community, located at 1775 Generations Way, is slated to open in early 2025. It is Part II of the Morning Pointe of East Hamilton Senior Living campus and will address the increasing demand for memory care in the greater Chattanooga area, as the current memory care wing at Morning Pointe of East Hamilton approaches capacity.

“We are seeing an increasing need for memory care communities and for earlier interventions in the Alzheimer’s and dementia journey,” said Greg A. Vital, Morning Pointe Senior Living co-founder and president. “The Lantern at Morning Pointe of East Hamilton will provide a safe environment where more seniors with dementia can live as meaningful lives as possible through the stages of the disease. Our trained associates will also be able to offer support to the families along the journey, which is a huge need as our country’s population ages.”

The Lantern will feature 60 apartments tailored to residents’ specific needs, with two distinct neighborhoods:

  • Lamplight Neighborhood: A vibrant environment for residents in the early stages of Alzheimer’s and dementia who are more active.
  • Lantern Neighborhood: A more intimate, quiet space designed for residents in advanced stages of memory loss.

The thoughtfully designed single-level community will offer several floor plan options, including studios and companion two-bedroom apartments. Residents will benefit from Morning Pointe’s signature approach to memory care, which combines personalized care with innovative therapies, including:

  • Best Friends™ Approach and Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach™ to Care
  • Meaningful Day™ purposeful programming
  • Music and art therapy
  • Cuddle therapy

The community’s services include licensed, clinical or care staff available 24 hours a day; on-site physical, occupational and speech therapies; and Morning Pointe’s Farm to Table program, which provides seasonal, locally sourced meals.

In addition to the thoughtfully designed living spaces, key staff members are currently being hired to bring Morning Pointe’s high standard of memory care to life. Specialized training in Alzheimer’s and dementia care equips team members to meet residents’ physical, emotional and social needs.

This expansion is part of Morning Pointe’s ongoing commitment to addressing the rising need for memory care in Hamilton County and beyond. Upon completion of Phase II, the original Morning Pointe of East Hamilton building will transition to assisted living-only, while The Lantern will serve as the dedicated memory care center on the campus.

The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence, East Hamilton, will mark the organization’s 42nd community across Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, Alabama, and Indiana.

Founded in 1997 by healthcare entrepreneurs Greg A. Vital (president) and J. Franklin Farrow (CEO), Morning Pointe Senior Living operates assisted living and Alzheimer’s memory care communities in five states: Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, Alabama and Indiana.
