Simple Changes Can Help Seniors Stay Safer at Home

FRANKFORT, Ky. — A loose rug, poor lighting, or even medication side effects can increase the risk of falls for older adults. To help families better understand those risks and learn practical ways to prevent them, Morning Pointe of Frankfort Assisted Living and The Weston Group Rehabilitation Services are hosting a free community workshop called “No Falls, Just Coffee Calls” on June 9 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Capital City Activity Center in Frankfort.

The event is open to the public and will focus on simple, everyday strategies that can help seniors maintain independence and reduce fall risks both inside and outside the home.

Attendees will learn:

  1. Simple balance and strength exercises
  2. Easy home safety tips
  3. How medications and vision changes can impact falls
  4. Practical ways to stay safe every day

Light refreshments will be provided during the event.

Falls remain one of the leading causes of injury among older adults, but many incidents can be prevented through education, awareness, and proactive lifestyle adjustments. Organizers hope the workshop encourages seniors and caregivers alike to ask questions, connect with local professionals, and leave feeling empowered with practical tools they can use immediately.

Those interested in attending are encouraged to RSVP by calling 502-885-0744 or emailing frankfort-crd@morningpointe.com.
