The Morning Pointe Foundation recently announced three new scholarships for Chattanooga State Community College.
New Scholarships
The new funding includes:
- A culinary scholarship of $1,000 each year for three years
- A physical therapist assistant (PTA) scholarship of $1,500 each year for three years
- A practical nursing (LPN) scholarship of $1,500 each year for three years
The school selects its scholarship recipients, and students do not need to be employees of Morning Pointe Senior Living.
“These scholarships represent a significant investment in the future of our students in the healthcare and culinary fields,” said Tammy Sawyers, director of college advancement at Chattanooga State Community College. “We are deeply grateful to the Morning Pointe Foundation for their generous support and commitment to education.”
The Morning Pointe Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Morning Pointe Senior Living. The 501(c)(3) non-profit organization provides scholarship opportunities, forms community partnerships and supports caregiver education in its mission to advance the care of seniors throughout the Southeast. It is based in Hamilton County, Tennessee.
“We are so excited for the opportunity to support more dedicated students here in Chattanooga, in our backyard,” said Miranda Perez, Morning Pointe Foundation executive director. “We know that these educational scholarships pay dividends back into the community as these students go on to work in fields that touch many lives, including our Morning Pointe Senior Living residents, even if they do not work for Morning Pointe.”
“Our Morning Pointe Foundation scholars are such a precious resource in the greater community,” said Greg A. Vital, co-founder and president of Morning Pointe Senior Living. “We are seeing a need for the occupations presented here – nurses, PTAs, and food service experts – and it is our privilege to assist in bringing new and passionate individuals into these fields.”
History of Partnerships
Morning Pointe Senior Living previously gave an endowment scholarship for nursing students at Chattanooga State. The college is the Morning Pointe Foundation’s very first partner school when it was founded in 2014.
Founded in 1997 by healthcare entrepreneurs Greg A. Vital and Franklin Farrow, Morning Pointe Senior Living operates 40 assisted living and Alzheimer’s memory care communities in five southeastern states. These include seven in the greater Chattanooga area, including Chattanooga, East Hamilton, Collegedale, Hixson, Athens and Walker County, Georgia. The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence, East Hamilton, is also under development and expected to open soon. For more information, visit morningpointe.com.
