Morning Pointe of Hixson Hosts Inaugural March for Monarchs, Raising Over $1,100 for Nursing Scholarships

HIXSON, Tenn. (September 8, 2025) – Despite a torrential downpour, spirits were anything but dampened at the first-ever March for Monarchs on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Morning Pointe of Hixson Assisted Living. Over 75 participants joined the 1-mile community walk and mini march, raising over $1,100 to support the Morning Pointe Foundation’s mission of providing nursing and caregiver scholarships across the Southeast.

Families, residents, and neighbors laced up their sneakers to walk together, earning stamps along the route before receiving commemorative butterfly pins. The highlight of the morning came at the conclusion of the walk, when participants gathered for a special monarch butterfly release, symbolizing transformation, hope, and the lasting impact of community support.

“It was such a joy to see our residents walking alongside families and friends, sharing laughs and creating new memories together,” said Samantha Parker, Community Relations Director at Morning Pointe of Hixson. “Even with the rain, the turnout exceeded expectations, and the generosity shown will go far in helping prepare the next generation of healthcare heroes.”

Students from Hixson High School played a key role in making the event a success, volunteering as cheerleaders, walk companions, and finish-line supporters for residents. Their energy and encouragement brought extra smiles as walkers completed their laps.

The March for Monarchs is expected to become an annual tradition at Morning Pointe of Hixson, combining wellness, intergenerational connection, and philanthropy.
