A Morning Pointe Couch Conversation: Activity Professionals Week

Activity Professionals Week graphic 2024

Jan. 22-28, 2024, is National Activity Professionals Week, recognizing the contributions of those who provide activities and life enrichment in senior living communities.

To celebrate, we interviewed Michaela Rawdon, life enrichment director at Morning Pointe of Collegedale at Greenbriar Cove, Tennessee, and one of her active residents, Ed Ingle. Ed has been a Morning Pointe resident for almost three years and noticed an upswing in activities when Michaela joined the team in August 2021.

“I loved working with seniors and quickly realized working in activities was something I wanted to turn into a career!” Michaela said. “It means so much to me to connect with residents and to be part of their days. I think that oftentimes when you come into assisted living or senior living, you think maybe you’re not going to have much to do, you’re not going to have much life to live after this, and I think that my job is a cool opportunity to show [seniors] that this is not the end – it’s just the next chapter.”

“You’ve brought a lot of life to all of us,” Ed said.

Michaela is just one of the many wonderful life enrichment directors (overseeing assisted living/senior living activities) and Lantern program directors (overseeing memory care campus activities) at Morning Pointe Senior Living communities. Thank you to each one who puts their heart into making Morning Pointe not just a place for seniors to receive clinical care but to also remain active socially, physically, intellectually and spiritually.
