Donnie Carrico – by his wife, Joann Carrico
The Lantern at Morning Pointe was one of five memory care centers that I looked at in order to find one that would be a good fit for my husband. I was very pleased the minute I walked into the facility. The living room and dining room are so open and cheery and where I know Donnie likes to sit and be with the other residents.
The Lantern offers activities in the morning and in the afternoon that puts smiles on everyone’s faces. They have been known to get up and dance. All of the staff and caretakers—and I do mean all—are so good to Donnie and all the rest of the men and women. Donnie’s brother noted when he was there visiting that everybody called Donnie by name and was always so friendly.
The caretakers are engaging with everyone there. You can tell they love their work. They show patience, kindness and are very helpful. I also want to mention that the chef prepares delicious, well-balanced meals.
For me, as his wife, it was difficult to place Donnie in a home, but I’m forever grateful The Lantern of Morning Pointe was a suggestion. It was the first one I considered, and after seeing 5 more, it was the last one.
It’s like home with a new, big, loving family. Donnie is happy, so I am happy.

Linda Brown – by her daughter, Kirsten Schmidt
I am thankful every day that I found The Lantern at Morning Pointe for my mom, who has dementia. She has been living at Morning Pointe for two years. The staff at Morning Pointe are professional, kind, compassionate, and take care of my mother as if she were their own loved one! I visit my mom often, and I am constantly amazed by the professionalism and love that the staff shows towards the residents.
When I was looking for a place for my mom, Morning Pointe was my first and only visit because I knew when I walked in those doors this is where my mom needed to be! The staff are well trained on how to deal with the difficult side of dementia. They are always kind and never lose patience with the residents who are in a cycle of difficulty. Their training pulls residents out of trying episodes and reels them back to a calm state with ease and understanding.
Every staff member in the facility is valued, and they all take a vested interest in getting to know the residents. Most of all, they are a tremendous support to me, as I navigate the emotional roller coaster of dementia with my mother. Thank you to everyone at Morning Pointe!

Mark Abramovich – by his wife, Janet Abramovich
Mark was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease when he was just 63. As the disease progressed, I could no longer be his sole caregiver. He has been at The Lantern for over a year, and I can honestly say the staff members are like family to us. They treat every individual with love, dignity and respect. My husband is safe, secure and cheerful. I could not imagine him being anywhere else as we navigate this terrible disease.
Conclusion
For these families, The Lantern at Morning Pointe isn’t just a place—it’s a partner in care and a source of comfort during one of life’s most challenging chapters. With a compassionate team, thoughtful programming, and a commitment to treating each resident with dignity, Morning Pointe continues to be a trusted choice for memory care in Louisville and beyond. As these stories show, finding the right support can make all the difference—not just for the resident, but for the entire family.
