Honoring the Heart of Care: Celebrating National Caregiver Day at Morning Pointe Senior Living

At Morning Pointe Senior Living, we understand the heart and dedication it takes to be a caregiver. Whether it’s a resident assistant (RA), certified nursing assistant (CNA), or nurse (LPN or RN) supporting residents, our caregivers in assisted living and memory care play a vital role in creating a safe, comforting, and enriching environment for seniors. For National Caregiver Day, celebrated on Feb. 21, 2025, we honor the compassion, patience, and selflessness that our caregivers show every single day.

A Special Couch Conversation

As part of this special celebration, we’re excited to share a heartfelt Couch Conversations video highlighting honest experiences, insights, and words of encouragement from two caregivers at one of Morning Pointe’s Lantern Alzheimer’s Centers of Excellence. Karen Westbrook, an RA, and Amber Shirley, a CNA, share what it’s like to work together to care for their residents, some of the challenges of memory care, and several sweet moments that make their careers meaningful.

Karen addressed some of the specific rewards of working in memory care. “I’ve decided to stay in memory care because I feel like here is where I’m needed the most. The residents just need more attention and love and trust, and I think this is the safest place for them.”

Amber shared, “I like to be able to give back, and this is my way of giving back, extra love out. I love seeing [the residents’] faces light up.”

A Heartfelt Thank-You to Caregivers

As we reflect on the stories shared in this Couch Conversation, it’s clear that caregiving is more than a task—it’s a calling driven by love, empathy, and resilience. At Morning Pointe, we are so thankful for those who have answered that calling. To all the caregivers out there—you are seen, you are appreciated, and you are making a difference every single day. Thank you for everything you do.
