Life Enrichment, Building Friendships: How Morning Pointe Turns Care into Connection

At Morning Pointe Senior Living, life enrichment is at the core of what elevates our communities from simple healthcare buildings, where residents receive assisted living or memory care service, to something more – a place to thrive and find purpose.

Engaging activities not only spark joy and foster connections but also promote physical, emotional, and cognitive well-being for our residents. During Activity Professionals Week, celebrated Jan. 19-25, 2025, we celebrate the dedication of our life enrichment directors and Lantern program directors who create meaningful programs that inspire growth, encourage creativity, and support vibrant living for seniors in every stage of life. From memory care activities that support cognition and meet residents at their own level, to engaging group events that bring assisted living residents together, our programs reflect the unique interests and needs of each individual.

A Life Enrichment Couch Conversation

Meet Regie Ragland, one of our incredible life enrichment directors, who has served at her community for more than 11 years. In our latest Morning Pointe Couch Conversation video, Regie shares a friendly chat (and hug) with 90-year-old resident Pat White. Together, these ladies explore what makes life enrichment so important to our seniors and how it’s really about relationships, not just activity programs.

“I’m a people person,” Pat explains. “I like to be around people, and you give me the opportunity to do it, and you encourage all of us to participate. I have met so many wonderful friends here. We’re friends and residents too, but mainly friends, and you’re the biggest friend of all. You have become like a second daughter to me.”

Regie, whose own mother has passed away, shared, “I have a room full of mothers, and I love that. I get so much joy from all of you. I love coming to Morning Pointe every day, especially to see people like you.”

Pat adds, “You share with us the love and relationships that just enrich our lives – that’s why you have that title.”

The Quiet Power of Showing Up: Why Volunteering Matters More Than You Think

There’s something simple and powerful about giving your time. Not money. Not a big commitment. Just showing up. During National Volunteer Appreciation Week, we’re taking a moment to reflect on what volunteering really looks like, especially in a senior living setting. It’s not complicated. It’s not formal. It’s human. It’s sitting beside someone and listening.

What Do You Wish Someone Had Told You About Caregiving?

Many adult children step into caregiving for a parent or loved one with the best of intentions. It often begins with small things. Helping with groceries. Driving to appointments. Stopping by more often. Then one day you realize you have quietly become a caregiver. For many families, this role arrives without a roadmap. People rarely

Should My Parent Stay Home or Move to Senior Living?

This is not an easy question. There’s no one right answer, and most families wrestle with it longer than they expected. For a while, staying at home can work well. But over time, needs can change. What felt manageable can slowly become overwhelming. The goal is not to rush a decision. It’s to look honestly
