A Morning Pointe Couch Conversation: Family Support in Memory Care

Join us for the latest Morning Pointe Senior Living “Couch Conversation” series installment. In this intimate and informative session, we highlight the family support experience in memory care.

Two family members share about their experiences with their loved ones, one in the early-stage memory care wing available at some of our Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Centers of Excellence called Lamplight, and one in the later-stage wing called Lantern. Each talks from their heart about the stage-appropriate care their loved one has received and how the staff has made the transition easier on their whole family.

Georgia Eastman, whose sister is in The Lantern wing, shared, “Her transition turned out to be very easy. She liked it so much she asked when was I coming to live here.”

John Martin, whose wife resides in the Lamplight wing, said, “They do everything in the world to take care of her. I have the greatest confidence that she will be fine here, nothing to worry about, and if there’s an emergency, they can get a hold of me real quick.”

More about Memory Care at Morning Pointe

Our associates in all Morning Pointe Lantern communities and memory care wings are regularly trained in dementia programs and approaches. These include Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach™ to Care™ and The Best Friends™ Approach, both of which help associates connect and communicate with residents in a friendly, loving, and positive way; as well as Meaningful Day™, a purposeful memory care program that provides structure to help your loved one feel safe and secure. Morning Pointe associates also provide support to families all through the disease processes, from the early stages to later stages.

In addition, some of The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Centers of Excellence offer two distinct areas for stage-appropriate care under one roof: Lamplight and Lantern.

The Lamplight Program is for residents in the early to moderate stages of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. It offers a large, expansive environment that is secure and safe. It is also a more active area as residents are still able to engage in more lively activities.

The Lantern Program is for more advanced stages of Alzheimer’s/dementia and focuses on individual interests, life experiences, and personal strengths to ensure each resident benefits from personalized and purposeful support. It is a smaller, more intimate space that is designed to be calming for residents who may be more easily overstimulated.

Morning Pointe Senior Living is committed to being a resource and support to families across the Southeast. We are here for you as you navigate the difficult journey of Alzheimer’s and dementia.
