From Aretha Franklin’s “A Natural Woman” to Ricky Van Shelton’s “Statue of a Fool” the Morning Pointe Foundation’s 6th Annual Seniors Got Talent show in Franklin offers a wide variety of performances.
Seniors Got Talent, produced by the Morning Pointe Foundation in partnership with Morning Pointe Senior Living, is just over a week away. The show is on Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. at The Franklin Theatre (419 Main Street). The event is almost sold out. Tickets are $10 at The Franklin Theatre website or morningpointefoundation.com while supplies last.
The show will open with last year’s winner, pianist Jack Wise, reprising his performance of his original song “Live Life More.”
Performers are ages 61-78 and include:
- Lisa Fatzinger (62) – singer performing “A Natural Woman”
- Barry Cardinael (76) – pianist performing “I’ll Love You”
- Leon Waller “Tumbleweed Jones” (76) – tap dancer dancing to “Old Towzer”
- Susie Stephens (71) – singer and pianist performing an original song, “Talk of the Town”
- Mike Fay (63) – comedian sharing an original comedy sketch
- Paula Chavis (78) – singer performing “I Will Survive”
- Bobby (62) and Karen (64) Leib – dancers performing to “Kiss Goodbye All Night”
- Bill Schneider (75) – singer performing “Statue of a Fool”
- Barbara Shimoff (63) – singer performing “The Lady is a Tramp”
- Chris Maze (64), Joe Lawrence (72), and Daniel Pierce (72) – musical trio performing “Help Me Make It Through the Night”
- Judy Street (75) and Jim Kirby (69) – singer and pianist performing “My Man”
- Dana Townsend (63) – singer performing “I Will Always Love You”
Acts are competing for the $1,000 grand prize, $500 second-place prize and $250 third-place prize. Show attendees will also be able to vote for the People’s Choice Award winner for $1 per vote, with funds going to the Morning Pointe Foundation.
The Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Morning Pointe Senior Living founded in 2014 by Tennessee-based senior healthcare entrepreneurs Greg A. Vital and Franklin Farrow. Seniors Got Talent proceeds specifically go toward clinical scholarships for students at local partner colleges.
Founded in 1997 by Vital and Farrow, Morning Pointe Senior Living operates 39 assisted living and Alzheimer’s memory care communities in five southeastern states: Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, Alabama and Indiana.
Lisa Spencer, chief meteorologist at News4 WSMV, is returning for the fifth year as the emcee. Judges are Alex Tinker IV, Open Mic Night emcee at Leiper’s Fork’s on “Fox and Locke”; Jim Hagaman, mayor of Spring Hill who has been involved in musical performance and theater; Danielle Farrell, businesswoman, professional entertainer, licensed realtor and self-published children’s author; and Mackenzie Wasner Roberts, country music artist and owner of an event retail company.
