Panelists addressed a variety of questions related to helping aging parents during the Morning Pointe Foundation’s free Caregiver Café on March 25, “How to Make Tough Decisions for Your Aging Loved One.”

The Program

Attendees from around the greater Lexington area gathered at Morning Pointe of Lexington-East. A panel of four local experts shared their most frequently asked questions regarding financial planning, Medicaid and Medicare, veterans benefits and recent changes in Kentucky regulations regarding senior care. The event ended with opening the floor for direct audience questions.

The panelists were Mikel D. McKinley, Jr., attorney and owner of Elder Care Law of KY; Michael Ayersman, insurance broker with MEA Senior Solutions; Mary Ross-Tarkington, M.ED., NCC, national director of client relations with Elder Veterans Legal Aid Group; and Lisa Biddle-Puffer, vice president of quality and regulatory affairs for Kentucky Center for Assisted Living.

The audience was engaged in the presentation and asked a lot of questions of the panelists, lining up to speak to each of them after the program.

“We had such good feedback from our attendees for this event,” said Miranda Perez, Morning Pointe Foundation executive director. “Our audience members asked some great questions about how to help their loved ones with transitions, and our experts were able to help provide answers and resources for them. This is one reason the Foundation is here.”
