Caregiver Cafe 2025 East Hamilton slide

Does Medicare cover assisted living? What VA benefits could your loved one qualify for? Should you switch to Medicare at 65 or stay on COBRA? If you’ve ever asked yourself these questions—or wished you knew which ones to ask—help is on the way.

About Caregiver Café

Next Tuesday, April 22, the Morning Pointe Foundation is hosting its Caregiver Café, a free educational panel designed to give families clarity and peace of mind as they navigate senior care decisions. The event will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Morning Pointe of East Hamilton (1776 Generations Way or 9700 Block E. Brainerd Road), located behind the Publix near Ooltewah-Ringgold Road. No registration is required.

Whether individuals are just beginning to think about their senior loved one’s needs or already navigating care questions after a health event, this panel discussion offers a valuable chance to ask real-life questions and get answers from local, trusted experts in elder law, Medicare, and VA benefits—all in one evening.

Panelists will cover essential topics, including:

  • Does Medicare pay for nursing home, assisted living, or home healthcare?
  • What VA benefits are available to help pay for care—and who qualifies?
  • Can I keep COBRA instead of switching to Medicare if I’m still working at 65?

“Families often wait until there’s a crisis before trying to figure everything out,” said Miranda Perez, executive director of the Morning Pointe Foundation. “The Caregiver Café is here to change that. It’s a chance to prepare, to ask the questions you didn’t know you needed to ask, and to walk away feeling supported and empowered.”

Panelists for the evening include:

  • Nancy A. Cogar, Esq., elder law attorney with Samples Jennings Clem and Fields, PLLC
  • Misty Bolt, Medicare specialist and CEO of Medicare Misty
  • Mary Ross-Tarkington, M.Ed., NCC, national director of client relations, Elder Veterans Legal Aid Group

Light refreshments will be served, and the event is open to all. For details, visit morningpointe.com/caregiver-cafe.

Caregiver Café is presented at no cost by the Morning Pointe Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Morning Pointe Senior Living founded by senior healthcare entrepreneurs Greg A. Vital (president) and J. Franklin Farrow (CEO). The nonprofit was created in 2014 to provide caregiver support programs, sponsor educational awareness events and fund scholarships to advance the care of seniors throughout the Southeast.
