With Morning Pointe Foundation’s Seniors Got Talent, Chattanooga variety show coming up on Tuesday, August 8, the names of the performers have been released.
The event will take place at 7 p.m. at the new 650-seat Silverdale Center Creekside Theatre at 7236 Bonny Oaks Drive. The venue is part of the Silverdale Baptist Academy campus.
The show is produced in partnership with Morning Pointe Senior Living, although the contestants are from the greater Chattanooga community. This year, the contestants are all from outside Morning Pointe communities.
Performers are:
- The Boots and Buckle line dancing group
- Hoyt Rogers, singer and guitarist
- The Starlighters Doo-Wop Band
- The Hopkins Band singing and playing bass and acoustic guitar
- Crystal Little, a singer and pianist
- Jamie Fairbanks-Harvey, a tap dancer
- The Trembling Troubadours Parkinson’s choir
- Dale Sneed, electric guitarist
- Bonnie Hannah, pianist
- Jim Herman, singer
Participants range in age from 62-88. Only one act will take home the grand prize of $500. Second- and third-place winners will also receive awards, and show attendees will be able to vote for their favorite act at $1 per vote for the People’s Choice Award, with funds going to the Morning Pointe Foundation.
“We are less than a month away from our show, and it’s shaping up to be the best one yet!” said Miranda Perez, Morning Pointe Foundation Executive Director. “We have strong acts that I think will both entertain and inspire.”
Greg Funderburg, director of marketing for the Urban League of Chattanooga and former anchor for WTVC Newschannel 9 morning/noon news, will serve as the master of ceremonies for the second year. Judges will include Rodney Van Valkenburg, executive director of the Chattanooga Theatre Centre; Steve Darmody, award-winning Christian recording artist; Ashley Rogers, a former Miss Tennessee at Cosmos United States Pageants and owner of Magic Lamp Entertainment, Knoxville Princess Parties and Kid Quest Expo; and Danielle Farrell, founder and artistic director for Encounter Artistic Movement.

Proceeds go to the Morning Pointe Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Morning Pointe Senior Living founded by Tennessee-based senior healthcare entrepreneurs Greg A. Vital and J. Franklin Farrow. The 501(c)3 nonprofit public service organization was created in 2014 to provide caregiver support programs, sponsor educational awareness events, and fund clinical scholarships to advance the care of seniors throughout the Southeast.

Morning Pointe’s Seniors Got Talent is building on a 14-year tradition that began at Morning Pointe of Hixson, Tennessee. Morning Pointe also sponsors Seniors Got Talent competitions in Knoxville and Franklin, Tennessee, as well as Lexington, Kentucky.
Founded in 1997 by Vital and Farrow, Morning Pointe Senior Living owns and operates 37 assisted living, personal care, and Alzheimer’s memory care communities in five southeastern states. These include six campuses in Chattanooga, Ooltewah and Hixson. The 38th Morning Pointe community, Morning Pointe at Happy Valley, is slated to open in Walker County, Georgia, in late 2023.
