On Dec. 6, Morning Pointe Senior Living presented its 2023 Community of the Year Award to The Lantern at Morning Pointe of Knoxville, an Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence.

The award is based on an overall look at the community’s performance in multiple areas, including customer service, fiscal responsibility, turnover percentage and support of the company’s Morning Pointe Foundation, a nonprofit that provides caregiver support and education, as well as scholarships.

The Lantern at Morning Pointe of Knoxville achieved this award as the top-performing team among the company’s 38 communities in Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee. This year, the campus underwent its very first state survey and achieved a deficiency-free score.

Anita Estes, executive director at The Lantern, accepted the award on behalf of her community.

“I am so thrilled for our team,” said Estes. “They really come together as a group, and most of us have been together since the beginning of the pandemic. Everybody does their part, and they do it well.”

Greg A. Vital, president and co-founder of Morning Pointe Senior Living, shared: “Congratulations to The Lantern at Morning Pointe of Knoxville. Morning Pointe is so proud of this team of associates, who are fulfilling our mission of providing top-quality care and service to our memory care residents and their families. The Knoxville Lantern is truly leading the way in memory care.”

Founded in 1997 by Tennessee healthcare entrepreneurs Greg A. Vital and Franklin Farrow, Morning Pointe Senior Living owns and operates 38 assisted living and Alzheimer’s memory care communities in five southeastern states.

The philanthropic arm of Morning Pointe Senior Living is the Morning Pointe Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that works to provide clinical scholarships and caregiver support.
