Morning Pointe of Calhoun Assisted Living and Memory Care invites the public to play in a pickleball tournament on Saturday, Oct. 26, to raise funds for the Morning Pointe Foundation.
The inaugural Pickleball for a Purpose will start at 8 a.m. at the City of Calhoun Recreation Department pickleball courts at 601 S River Street. Thirty men’s doubles teams and 30 women’s doubles teams will compete for medals. Teams can register for $70 each at pickleballbrackets.com (search for “Morning Pointe”).
Proceeds will go to the Morning Pointe Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit public service organization and the philanthropic arm of Morning Pointe Senior Living. The Foundation was created in 2014 by senior healthcare entrepreneurs Greg A. Vital and J. Franklin Farrow to provide caregiver support programs, sponsor educational awareness events and fund scholarships that advance the care of seniors throughout the Southeast.
“We wanted to do something to support the Morning Pointe Foundation, especially since it provides a scholarship locally at Dalton State,” said Traci Clements, executive director at Morning Pointe of Calhoun. “With the increased interest and participation in pickleball, we thought this would be a unique and fun way to raise funds and get the greater Calhoun and Gordon County community involved.”
Teams will receive T-shirts and swag bags. A hydration station will be available, as well as a food truck. Homespun Hospice is the presenting sponsor.
