The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence, Hardin Valley, the new memory care community in development on Reagan Road, is now taking reservations for residents.

The senior community is Part II of the Morning Pointe of Hardin Valley campus in Knoxville. It will be the 40th Morning Pointe Senior Living community.

The secure, single-level building is slated to open in early 2025. It will offer 60 memory care apartments encompassing two levels of care – a larger and more open Lamplight wing for early stages of Alzheimer’s and other dementias, and a more intimate, quiet Lantern wing for farther advanced stages. Residents can engage at a level of activity and care that provides the right amount of stimulation without being either underchallenged or overwhelmed. Care staff will be specially trained on the different stages of Alzheimer’s and dementia and how to care for each resident’s needs with compassion and comfort.

  • Medication assistance and reminders
  • Periodic check-ins
  • Personal grooming assistance, such as bathing or getting dressed
  • Assistance with transferring to a bed or chair
  • Escorting to meals and events
  • Accommodations for no-salt-added and reduced-concentrated-sweets diets
  • Incontinence management

On-site physical, occupational and speech therapy services will be available. Programming will include life enrichment such as arts and crafts, wellness offerings such as exercise classes, and intergenerational activities, such as partnering with local schools. Residents will also benefit from Morning Pointe’s Farm to Table program with local, farm-fresh and seasonal ingredients.

The community will offer specialized Alzheimer’s and dementia care services, including Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach® to Care, the Best Friends™ Approach and Morning Pointe’s own Meaningful Day™ – a purposeful memory care program providing structure to help residents feel safe and secure.

The Morning Pointe of Hardin Valley campus is conveniently located down the road from Pellissippi State Community College. It is between Oak Ridge and West Knoxville. Upon completion of The Lantern, Phase II of the campus, the original building will transition to assisted living only. Together, the campus will offer an expanded continuum of care for seniors with varying needs, adding early dementia care to the mix.
