Wellness Can Start With a Walk and a Willing Spirit

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. —March 27, 2026— At Morning Pointe of Chattanooga, wellness is showing up in simple but meaningful ways this month as residents Ruth McCLeod and Bob Moye continue to prove that staying active can support both body and mind at any age.

As part of Morning Pointe Senior Living’s March theme, A World of Wellness, the community is highlighting residents who embrace healthy habits and find joy in movement, fresh air, and daily routines that help them feel their best.

At 91 years old, Ruth McCLeod says staying active gives her more energy and helps her feel better overall. She has long lived an on-the-go life. Earlier in life, she managed an apartment complex and spent much of her time outdoors taking care of the property, landscaping, and staying busy. That love for activity and nature has stayed with her.

Today, Ruth continues to walk daily and especially enjoys being outside, surrounded by fresh air and the beauty of nature. For her, wellness is about keeping going, staying healthy, and continuing to move forward.

Bob Moye, 90, also knows the value of an active lifestyle. In his younger years, he played basketball and ran track at school, but he says he only began walking every day about 10 years ago. Now, he walks 30 to 45 minutes a day and also takes part in the community’s daily exercise routine Monday through Friday.

For Bob, staying active helps him manage his weight, improve his endurance, and maintain his strength. He also appreciates the mental side of walking, saying it gives him time to think and clear his mind.

“Ruth and Bob are such a joy to watch because they truly embrace what it means to stay active in a way that works for them,” said Holly Holcomb, Life Enrichment Director at Morning Pointe of Chattanooga. “They remind us that wellness does not have to be complicated. It can be as simple as a daily walk, time outside, and making the choice to keep moving. Their consistency and positive outlook are inspiring to everyone around them.”

Morning Pointe Senior Living’s A World of Wellness theme encourages residents to focus on whole-person wellness through activities and habits that support physical, emotional, social, and spiritual health. From exercise and time outdoors to meaningful routines and connection with others, the goal is to help residents continue living full and purposeful lives.

Morning Pointe of Chattanooga offers assisted living and memory care services with personalized support, engaging programming, and opportunities for residents to stay active in ways that fit their interests and abilities.
