What Does Memory Care Really Look Like? A New Option Is Opening in Walker County

Happy Valley, Ga. — (January 20, 2025) — For many families, memory care is something they know they’ll need someday, but rarely understand until the moment arrives. Now, a new option is taking shape in Walker County. As construction moves toward an early 2026 opening, The Lantern at Morning Pointe Happy Valley is now scheduling tours, giving families an opportunity to see firsthand what modern memory care looks like—and how it supports dignity, safety, and quality of life for loved ones living with Alzheimer’s or dementia.

Located beside the existing assisted living and memory care community at 2937 Happy Valley Road in Rossville, the new Lantern building expands care options for local families who want more than a one-size-fits-all solution. The first members of the director team are now in place, helping shape a welcoming, supportive environment, with additional leaders and associates expected to join in the coming months. With tours underway, families are invited to step inside, ask questions, and better understand how memory care has evolved beyond traditional perceptions.

Two Levels of Dedicated Alzheimer’s & Dementia Support

The new Lantern building will feature two distinct program levels, each tailored to the needs of residents at different stages of memory loss:

Lamplight — Created for individuals in the early to moderate stages of Alzheimer’s or dementia, offering structured routines, social engagement, purposeful activities, and gentle cognitive support.

Lantern — Designed for residents in the more advanced stages of Alzheimer’s or dementia, providing secure environments, sensory-based programming, and personalized interventions to promote dignity, comfort, and well-being.

This two-tier model allows Morning Pointe to meet residents where they are—fostering independence when appropriate while ensuring around-the-clock support and care.

Bringing Comprehensive Memory Care to Walker County

The Happy Valley Lantern reflects Morning Pointe’s commitment to serving families across Northwest Georgia. Once complete, the campus will offer:

  • A coordinated continuum of care
  • Thoughtfully designed life enrichment programs
  • Licensed nursing support and medication management
  • Warm, familiar environments that reduce stress and confusion
  • Meaningful spaces for family involvement and community visits

“Morning Pointe is committed to meeting the growing needs of families across Walker County, and this expansion represents another important step in that mission,” said Greg A. Vital, co-founder of Morning Pointe Senior Living. “The Happy Valley Lantern will bring trusted memory care to this community, giving families the peace of mind that their loved ones are receiving the support, compassion, and attention they deserve.”
