A Daughter’s Story: The Difference Morning Pointe Has Made for Their Dad

When this family began looking for assisted living, they wanted a place where their dad could feel safe, supported, and connected. Here is daughter Lori Baine with her Morning Pointe story.

“We chose Morning Pointe for several reasons. One, its location was perfect! Conveniently located to all of our family members to make visits easy and frequent.” Convenience mattered — but trust mattered even more. “Morning Pointe’s reputation exceeded all other options in the area, and their program met our needs for quality care for our Dad.”

Cleanliness was a non-negotiable for the family, and Lori remembers feeling immediate relief during their first visit. “Cleanliness was a must, and they exceeded our expectations in all areas here.” What sealed their decision was the way the team interacted with residents and with their dad. “The staff is friendly and engaging on all levels: nurses, administrative, activity director, janitorial, & food service.”

After he moved in, the change was felt almost instantly. “This decision has improved the well-being and care for our Dad immensely! We truly believe his life would not be what it is today had we not made this decision for our family.” The daughters also found themselves in a new, healthier role — one they didn’t realize how much they missed. “We have been able to be ‘daughters’ rather than full-time caregivers. This has allowed us to enjoy our time together and has relieved so much stress for all of us.”

Their dad, too, feels the difference every day. “He feels more independent and capable than he would have had he stayed in his home alone.” His living space allows him to move freely and safely, something that was becoming increasingly difficult at home. “Just the layout of his living space is a huge benefit! He can move around freely and safely in his room and the facility.” And with Morning Pointe’s clinical team overseeing medications and health needs, the burden of constant doctor’s visits has eased significantly. “Having the Morning Pointe medical team oversee his care and meds has been a lifesaver! Not having to transport Dad in/out for doctor’s appointments has been such a blessing for all of us.” Even small touches bring joy — like the chance to get his haircut and beard trimmed on-site every six weeks, which she said “has been so helpful and increases Dad’s self-confidence too!”

After losing their mother, the family worried about loneliness creeping in. But Lori shared that, “We are so grateful that we no longer have to worry about Dad feeling isolated or neglected, because now he is around other people every day.” Being at Morning Pointe has helped him reconnect with his sense of purpose: “Being at Morning Pointe has helped him see his self-worth and value.”

His relationships with team members and residents have been especially meaningful. “Dad loves the staff at Morning Pointe! He often says how kind and attentive they all are!” Physical therapy has become a bright spot in his week: “He loves his physical therapy and has especially bonded with Sandra there. He looks forward to his weekly appointments!”

He no longer feels alone in his stage of life. “He feels like he has friends in the Morning Pointe community and realizes that he is not alone… but rather surrounded by others who can relate to the daily challenges that aging can bring.” And when friends visit, he beams with pride. “He is proud of where he lives and brags to his friends how nice the facilities and staff are to them.”

This family shared their experience simply to express what Morning Pointe has meant to them—and in hopes that their story may offer reassurance to someone else considering this step for a loved one. It reflects what so many families hope to find: safety, dignity, connection, and the peace of knowing their loved one is supported by people who truly care.
