The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence, Hardin Valley, is officially open and began welcoming residents on April 4.
Hardin Valley Lantern Now Open
More than 20 seniors moved from the memory care wing at Morning Pointe of Hardin Valley Assisted Living and Memory Care to the brand-new building completely dedicated to serving those with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia. Here, they can also benefit from the community’s two distinct levels of memory care. The Lamplight neighborhood is a large area for residents with early-stage Alzheimer’s and dementia who are more active, while the Lantern wing provides a more intimate and quiet space designed for more advanced stages.
“We have been anticipating this day for a long time, and it is wonderful to see it come to fruition,” said Sandra Franklin, executive director at The Lantern. “With this campus expansion we will be able to serve more seniors living with dementia and support more families. The early-stage memory care on our Lamplight wing is a welcome addition to the continuum of care here in east Knoxville.”

The group from Morning Pointe’s original Hardin Valley building was the first to officially become residents at the memory care community, located at 2433 Reagan Road in Knoxville. However, more seniors who are new to Morning Pointe have reserved apartments.
“We have been seeing a strong interest from the local community,” said Charlie Harris, Morning Pointe Senior Living’s senior vice president of sales. “Many families have come to tour, and we already have about 15 moving their loved ones in throughout April. Some of the apartment types are going fast, and the community is already starting to fill up. We knew there was a need for memory care here in Hardin Valley, and now we are seeing the proof.”
The Grand Opening celebration and ribbon-cutting has been scheduled for Thursday, May 15, from 4-7 p.m. The formal program will start at 4:30 p.m.
The new one-level memory care community offers 60 apartments. Several floor plan choices include studios and companion two-bedroom apartments, such as for couples.
The Lantern is continuing to reserve apartments. To tour the community, learn more information or make a reservation, call 865-343-0409.
“What an exciting day, and a chance to bring more senior services to the rapidly-growing Knoxville area,” said Greg A. Vital, Morning Pointe Senior Living co-founder and president. “We are privileged to be able to serve more seniors and their families, offering expanded memory care services and more assisted living apartments on campus.”
