Free Lung Cancer Screening Event Coming to Morning Pointe of Hixson

HIXSON, Tenn. (Sept. 30, 2025) – Morning Pointe of Hixson is partnering with CHI Memorial to host the Breathe Easy Lung Coach on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 10 a.m. The free community event offers convenient, low-dose CT screenings to help detect lung cancer at its earliest—and most treatable—stage.

The Lung Coach will be on site at Morning Pointe of Hixson from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., providing potentially life-saving screenings to those who qualify.

Who is eligible for a screening?

  • Adults ages 50–80 (Medicare: 50–77)
  • Current smokers or those who quit within the last 15 years
  • Individuals with a 20+ pack-year smoking history (ex: 1 pack/day for 20 years or 2 packs/day for 10 years)
  • No chest CT scan in the past 12 months
  • No current signs or symptoms of lung cancer

Cost of Screening:

  • Insured patients who meet the guidelines are eligible for coverage.
  • Uninsured patients may qualify under the same guidelines.
  • Self-pay option of $150 is available for those who do not meet the qualifications but still wish to be screened.
