Morning Pointe Senior Living celebrates Receptionists Day

Happy Receptionist Day collage

Receptionists play a vital role in Morning Pointe Senior Living’s assisted living, personal care, and memory care communities. You may think of Receptionists as just the people who answer the phone, but they do so much more!

They serve as the first point of contact for residents, families, and visitors. Receptionists provide a warm and welcoming environment and ensure that everyone who enters the community feels valued. They are essential members of the team, and their contributions help to create a positive, caring environment for all who live and work at Morning Pointe. May 10, 2023 is Receptionists Day, and we want to introduce you to just a few of our stellar Receptionists across our company.

Maxine Wilson – The Lantern at Morning Pointe of Clinton, Tennessee

After a 30-year career at the hospital, Maxine came to work at The Lantern, an Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence. The building was close to home and allowed her to continue to serve as an ambassador for the National Association of Healthcare Access Management. She has now been at The Lantern for almost 10 years!

“I’ve always had a heart for people in this position – the residents and their families,” Maxine shared. “I was brought up to heal, and I love trying to help the residents, to make their lives just a little bit better.”

For example, Maxine is known to sing to the residents and especially loves to entertain them with a rousing rendition of “Rocky Top”! She also helps serve meals.

“I am very passionate about these residents,” Maxine said. “I always tell families on tours that the residents are safe here. We have door security and a nurse here 24/7. We take care of the residents and anything else that needs taking care of.”

“Maxine is more than just a receptionist – she is a team player!” said Holly Smarr, Executive Director at The Lantern.

Henry has worked at The Lantern for about seven months.

“He is a breath of fresh air as soon as you walk in our doors,” said Sarah Aker, Executive Director at the building. “Henry is always so personable with our families, associates, and residents. He helps all department heads with any extra duties within his scope.”

For example, as an ordained minister, this year, Henry helped plan an Ash Wednesday service.

Henry values the contributions he is able to make in others’ lives.

“Working at The Lantern is sharing the light of hope in times when it’s dark and shadowy,” Henry shared. “We are the light to our residents and families and to each other as coworkers. The Lantern is so much more than a symbol – it’s a reality. Every day needs a hint of light.”

Cindy Lemon – Morning Pointe of Greenbriar Cove in Ooltewah, Tennessee

The full-time receptionist at the building since 2016, Cindy has barely missed a day!

“She always welcomes everyone with a smile,” said Ian Shives, Executive Director of the campus. “Cindy helps in the dining room by passing out soups and salads and even helps clean the dining room post-meals. She has a keen eye to ensure the front of the house is clean.”

In addition, Cindy helps pass out the mail and creates spreadsheets for the managers to ensure they are on task.

Cindy said she joined the community because she felt the Lord leading her there.

“What makes working at Morning Pointe very enjoyable is the great residents, staff, and management at our building,” said Cindy. “I appreciate the wide variety of tasks in the job and the opportunity to interact with the various families. I’m so happy to be a part of the Morning Pointe team!”
