Dwayne Butler named director of dining operations for Morning Pointe Senior Living

Dwayne Butler, Director of Dining Operations

Morning Pointe Senior Living recently named Dwayne Butler as its new director of dining operations.

Butler joined the Morning Pointe team in July 2022 as food services director at Morning Pointe of Hixson. In his new role, Butler oversees dining services across the company’s 37 campuses. He will train new FSDs and support the dietary teams with menus, budgeting and acquiring fresh local ingredients, among other responsibilities.

“I love to cook, and I like taking care of older people,” said Butler. “I like making people happy with food.”

Butler’s love of cooking started as a young child. His large family gathered weekly at his grandmother’s house, and he spent time in the kitchen with her cooking for the family.

Butler has approximately 30 years of experience in food services. He started as a teenager at a Huddle House and worked his way up. He worked in the restaurant industry at J. Alexander’s and Outback Steakhouse, as well as at the Bluff View Art District in downtown Chattanooga. He moved to the senior living field attracted by better hours. Butler has worked for several senior living and senior care companies in the Chattanooga area.

“I fell in love with the residents, just building those day-to-day relationships,” Butler said.

“Dwayne’s ability to build teams and attract talent are just a few of his attributes,” said Scott Edens, Morning Pointe Senior Living’s vice president of professional development. “I look forward to seeing his leadership in action and seeing him take our programs to the next level. We are blessed to have Dwayne join our support team here at our home office.”

Butler and his wife, Wendy, live in Hixson, Tennessee, with their two dogs. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, especially cruising in the Caribbean, and playing billiards with the local American Poolplayers Association.

Founded in 1997 by Tennessee healthcare entrepreneurs Greg A. Vital and Franklin Farrow, Morning Pointe Senior Living owns and operates 37 assisted living, personal care, and Alzheimer’s memory care communities in five southeastern states.
