Danville, KY— February 9, 20206— When broken stained glass windows at his church needed repair decades ago, Charlie Turner didn’t set out to become an artist — he simply wanted to help.
Now 88 years old and a resident at Morning Pointe of Danville Assisted Living, Turner reflects on a creative journey that began out of necessity and grew into a lifelong passion. After retiring in 1997, he learned that no one knew how to repair the damaged stained glass windows at his church. Rather than let them remain broken, he decided to teach himself.
With no formal training, Turner immersed himself in the craft of stained glass — studying techniques, learning through trial and error, and eventually building a workshop in his basement. What began as a practical solution soon became a deeply meaningful hobby.
