Happy Valley, GA— February 10, 2026— Anne and Ted Hope recently marked a milestone few couples ever reach: 75 years of marriage, celebrated with the four children who have grown up watching their parents’ love remain steady, close, and deeply rooted.
Their story began simply, the way many enduring love stories do. Anne and Ted met in high school and dated casually before graduation. When Ted left for college, distance became part of their relationship, but it never weakened it. For six years, they stayed connected, learning how to grow together even when life pulled them in different directions. Eventually, Ted joined the Air Force, beginning a career that would shape much of their shared journey.
Though marriage had been discussed, Ted’s proposal skipped fanfare entirely. While home on leave, he asked Anne a straightforward question: When are we going to get married
Anne didn’t hesitate. “In two days,” she replied.
And that was that.
They were married at Ted’s family home. There was no elaborate planning and no grand production, just a heartfelt moment that reflected who they were and what they valued. Simple, certain, and full of love.
Asked what has sustained their marriage for 75 years, Anne points to Ted’s kindness and trustworthiness. She says those qualities have always been the foundation. Ted, meanwhile, does not even try to narrow it down. He says he loves everything about Anne and cannot choose just one thing.
Life together meant frequent moves, new communities, and constant change, especially during Ted’s Air Force career. Through it all, they leaned on their faith, their family, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit to stay grounded and connected.
After 75 years, their advice is refreshingly simple and hard earned:
“Do not go to bed mad, and always put the other person before yourself.”
It is a philosophy that has carried them through decades of change, proving that lasting love does not require perfection. It requires commitment, grace, and the choice to keep choosing one another, day after day, year after year.
