Morning Pointe at Happy Valley Assisted Living and Memory Care in Walker County, Georgia, is planning a Santa Shuffle 5K and Mile Dash on Dec. 15 to raise funds for the Morning Pointe Foundation.

The inaugural race will start at 8 a.m. at Morning Pointe at Happy Valley, located at 2989 Happy Valley Road in Rossville. The route will stop along Happy Valley Farms and Panther Nation at Ridgeland High School. Participants are encouraged to dress up in Christmas-themed attire for the run.

“Running has been a passion of mine for a long time, and I can’t think of a more beautiful setting for a run than on our very own Happy Valley campus,” said Kristen Weiz, community relations director at Morning Pointe at Happy Valley. “I encourage our local running community to come out for a fun time, and an even better cause.”

The 5K is $30 per person with a cost of $15 for the One-Mile Dash. Medals will be awarded to first, second and third place for male and female 5k runners. Participants can register at register.chronotrack.com/r/83617. The first 75 people to sign up will receive exclusive swag materials, and all participants will be able to enjoy hot cocoa and cider.

To prepare the evening before, Morning Pointe at Happy Valley is also hosting a Chef-Prepared Pasta Dinner for $20.

All proceeds will go to the Morning Pointe Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit public service organization and the philanthropic arm of Morning Pointe Senior Living. The Foundation was created in 2014 by senior healthcare entrepreneurs Greg A. Vital and J. Franklin Farrow to provide caregiver support programs, sponsor educational awareness events and fund nursing and other scholarships that advance the care of seniors throughout the Southeast. Partner schools in the area include Dalton State College, the University of Tennessee Chattanooga and Chattanooga State Community College.
