Local Morning Pointe Senior Living Communities Collecting Items for The Samaritan Center Through Nov. 14

Community members can still drop off donations for The Samaritan Center’s Fall Food Drive through Thursday, Nov. 14, at local Morning Pointe Senior Living communities.

Each senior living building has a dedicated drop-off barrel inside for donations to support The Samaritan Center’s annual program. The Samaritan Center is a community resource in Ooltewah striving to meet the basic physical, spiritual and social needs of people in the wider area.

Each location has been seeing donations from associates, residents, family members and community partners. One very generous resident at Morning Pointe of Collegedale at Greenbriar Cove, Pat Evans, has given in multiple items.

“Thanksgiving is the perfect time to support our wider community, and this year, with inflation and increasing food prices, the need for food is really being felt,” said Greg A. Vital, Morning Pointe Senior Living president and co-founder. “Morning Pointe has always believed in and supported the work of The Samaritan Center, and we are privileged to join them again this year in their food drive.”

Specific requests from The Samaritan Center include:

  • Low-sodium soup
  • Cooking oil
  • Canned meat
  • Beanie Weenies
  • Mustard
  • Juice
  • Salad dressing
  • Sugar
  • Flour
  • Rice/pasta dinners
  • Pasta sauce and noodles
  • Dry soups
  • Hot cereals (oatmeal, Cream of Wheat, grits, etc.)
  • Canned fruit
  • Macaroni and cheese
