Morning Pointe Celebrates National Rehab Week, Honors On-Site Therapy Partners Who Help Residents Maintain Independence

Last week, Morning Pointe Senior Living joined the nationwide celebration of National Rehabilitation Week, honoring the vital role of therapy partners who work daily in the community to help residents regain independence, strengthen mobility, and extend their quality of life.

At Morning Pointe of Chattanooga, resident Dr. Michael Sobel says access to on-site therapy was one of the deciding factors when choosing where to live.

“It’s been very rewarding for me—at least one of the reasons I chose Morning Pointe was that they had an on-site availability of physical and occupational therapy folks,” Dr. Sobel shared. “That’s good, where you don’t have to run out into the countryside and seek attention. We can get it right here on site.”

Morning Pointe partners with The Weston Therapy Group and Heritage HealthPRO to offer physical, occupational, and speech therapy inside many of its assisted living and memory care communities. These services, coordinated through Medicare and health services, are designed to increase independence, improve overall wellness, and make care more accessible without leaving home.

“Rehabilitation is such an important part of overall wellness for seniors,” said Ghena Wilson, Regional Director of Nursing at Morning Pointe Senior Living. “We are grateful for our therapy partners who come into our communities every day to provide services that support our residents’ recovery, extend their independence, and improve their quality of life.”

Morning Pointe of Hixson recognized therapists from The Weston Therapy Group during National Rehab Week for their dedicated service to residents.

The therapists themselves see the difference firsthand.

  • Pam Wingo, Physical Therapy Assistant with The Weston Therapy Group, explained: “Preventing falls is probably our biggest goal, but that can involve building their strength, building their endurance. I also teach a balance class once a week, and we try to be sure that what we’re teaching them in therapy is carried over. Because we’re here in the community, we’re able to see that.”
  • Julie Ana, Speech-Language Pathologist with The Weston Therapy Group, added: “I feel like a lot of times when patients move in, families are very nervous because they’re not here as much as we are. We really help families through the process. We can do some cognitive staging right when someone moves in, to get a baseline and educate the family on where exactly they are, what they can do, and what they need.”

National Rehab Week shines a light on the invaluable work of these professionals—partners who don’t just provide therapy, but also reassurance and peace of mind for residents and families alike.

Morning Pointe extends heartfelt thanks to The Weston Therapy Group and Heritage HealthPRO for walking alongside residents and families to make daily life healthier, stronger, and more fulfilling.
