Panelists addressed a variety of questions related to helping aging parents during the Morning Pointe Foundation’s free Knoxville Caregiver Café on May 2, “How to Make Tough Decisions for Your Aging Loved One.”

Attendees from around the greater Knoxville area attended the event at the Shoreline Church on Westland Drive. A panel of four local experts shared their most frequently asked questions regarding financial planning, Medicaid and Medicare, veterans benefits and geriatric care.

The event ended with opening the floor for direct audience questions.

The five panelists were Glen Kyle, owner of the Knoxville law office of Franklin & Kyle Law, LLC; Greg Boling, business development manager with Senior Financial Group; Dr. Deaver Shattuck, medical director for HouseCall Primary Care; and Charles McGhee, veteran service officer with the Tennessee Department of Veterans Services.

Gabrielle Blake, a licensed clinical social worker with Franklin & Kyle Law, LLC, moderated the discussion.

“We are all smarter after learning from these speakers,” said Miranda Perez, Morning Pointe Foundation executive director. “Our audience members asked some great questions about how to help their loved ones with transitions. Our experts were able to help provide answers and resources for them. You could tell this is a much-needed event, and Morning Pointe is looking forward to offering it annually.”
